Terms of Care - Bite Into Freedom
Client Agreement

Terms of
Care

Welcome to Bite Into Freedom. These Terms of Care govern the clinical and telehealth services provided to you. By scheduling an appointment and engaging in our services, you agree to the terms outlined below.

1. Nature of Services

Bite Into Freedom provides specialist clinical support for eating disorders, including but not limited to Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, and ARFID. We utilize evidence-based treatments such as CBT-E, FBT, and intuitive eating informed care. All consultations are provided via private and secure telehealth platforms.

2. Medical Disclaimer & Emergencies

While we provide specialist care for eating disorders, our telehealth services are not an emergency or crisis service. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, severe physical complications related to an eating disorder, or are in a mental health crisis, you must immediately:

  • Call your local emergency services (e.g., 000 in Australia, 911 in the US/Canada, 999 in the UK).
  • Present to the nearest hospital emergency department.
  • Contact a dedicated crisis support lifeline.

Bite Into Freedom practitioners cannot provide urgent medical stabilization.

3. Telehealth Requirements

To ensure a safe and effective clinical session, clients are expected to:

  • Ensure they are in a private, quiet space where they will not be interrupted or overheard.
  • Have a stable internet connection and a working webcam and microphone.
  • Not be driving or engaging in other distracting activities during the session.

4. Appointments & Cancellations

We understand that circumstances can change; however, as a specialist clinic, late cancellations mean that other clients seeking urgent support miss out on care. Our cancellation policy is as follows:

  • Notice Required: We require a minimum of 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment without penalty.
  • Late Cancellations & No-Shows: Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice, or failure to attend a scheduled appointment, will incur a cancellation fee up to the full cost of the session.

5. Fees and Payment

Fees for initial consultations and ongoing sessions are outlined at the time of booking. Payment is generally required at the time of your appointment or prior to the session, processed securely via our booking platform (Halaxy). Outstanding invoices may result in the suspension of future sessions until the balance is cleared.

6. Confidentiality and Privacy

Your clinical records and session contents are strictly confidential and are maintained securely. Information will not be released to a third party without your explicit consent, with the following legal and ethical exceptions:

  • If there is an immediate and specified risk of harm to yourself or someone else.
  • If your records are subpoenaed by a court of law.
  • If there are mandatory reporting obligations (e.g., child protection concerns).

All personal and health information is collected, stored, and managed strictly in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

7. Collaborative Care

Eating disorder recovery often requires a multidisciplinary approach. With your consent, we may recommend and collaborate with your General Practitioner (GP), a dietitian, a psychiatrist, or other medical professionals to ensure your treatment is safe and comprehensive.

8. Contact and Out-of-Session Support

Communication outside of scheduled sessions (via email or phone) is reserved for administrative purposes only, such as scheduling or billing inquiries. Clinical guidance, processing, and therapy must be conducted during your dedicated appointment time.

9. Questions or Concerns

If you have any questions about these Terms of Care or our clinical practices, please discuss them with your practitioner during your session or contact our administrative team at admin@biteintofreedom.com.au.
