NDIS Questions

NDIS Frequently Asked
Questions

Straight answers on funding, costs and how to get started.

Do you accept NDIS participants for psychology?

Yes. We work with self managed & plan managed NDIS participants, and there is no out of pocket cost at all. Sessions are fully covered by your NDIS funding, so you pay nothing on the day. Our psychology service is for ages 16 and over, and all appointments are online by video.

How much does an NDIS psychology session cost?

A 60 minute psychology session is $252.99, fully funded, $0 out of pocket. The same rate applies whether you see a registered psychologist or a clinical psychologist.

Self managed participants are invoiced directly. For plan managed participants we send the invoice straight to your plan manager, so there is nothing for you to chase.

Do I need a referral or a Mental Health Care Plan?

No. You do not need a GP referral or a Mental Health Care Plan to book with us as an NDIS participant. You only need funding in your plan that can be used for psychology. Book online and we take care of the rest.

Which part of my NDIS plan pays for a psychologist?

Psychology usually sits under Capacity Building, Improved Daily Living. If you are not sure whether your plan has room for it, email our team before you book and we will talk it through with you.

Are you an NDIS registered provider?

We work with self managed & plan managed participants. If your plan is agency managed, also called NDIA managed, you will need a registered provider, and we are happy to point you towards one.

What can an NDIS psychologist help with?

Eating disorders are the only area we work in. Our psychologists work on body image distress, shame and self worth, the anxiety, OCD and trauma sitting underneath restriction or bingeing, and the emotion regulation skills that keep recovery going. Therapy draws on CBT-E, ACT and DBT informed approaches, delivered in a neurodiversity affirming way.

What happens in my first NDIS psychology session?

Your first session runs for 60 minutes by video. Your psychologist will get a picture of your history, what is happening now, and the goals sitting in your plan, then set out a clear direction for the work.

Nothing has to change on the day. You go at a pace you can manage.

Is there a minimum age for psychology?

Yes. Our psychology service is for ages 16 and over. Our dietitians see all ages, so if you are booking for someone younger, an NDIS dietitian appointment is the place to start.

Can you provide reports for my plan review?

Yes. We can write reports for your plan review or funding request, and we work alongside your support coordinator, GP and dietitian. Ask your psychologist in session and we will arrange it.
