Medicare Rebates & Funding

We believe expert eating disorder care should be accessible. Learn how you can utilize Medicare plans to significantly reduce the cost of your treatment.

Eating Disorder Management Plan (EDMP)

Designed specifically for individuals with a diagnosed eating disorder. This plan provides the most comprehensive level of subsidized support for your nutritional recovery.

  • Up to 20 Dietitian sessions per 12-month period.
  • Specifically covers your nutritional rehabilitation and specialized meal support.
  • Requires a referral from your GP or Psychiatrist addressed to our dietitians.

Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDM)

Formerly known as an EPC plan, this is suitable for those who may not meet the strict criteria for an EDMP but still require ongoing nutritional support.

  • Up to 5 Dietitian sessions per calendar year.
  • Can be used for disordered eating, PCOS, or establishing a healthier relationship with food.
  • Requires a referral from your regular GP addressed to our dietitians.

Billing & Rebate FAQs

Do you Bulk Bill?
No, we are a private billing clinic and do not bulk bill. This means there is an out-of-pocket "gap" fee for all sessions. You will be required to pay the full appointment fee on the day, and then the Medicare rebate will be processed and returned to your bank account.
How much is the Medicare Rebate?
The current Medicare rebate for a standard Dietetics session (under both EDMP and CDM plans) is typically around $60.35 per session. (Please note that Medicare indexes these amounts occasionally, so exact figures may vary slightly depending on the current schedule).
How is the rebate processed?
To make things as smooth as possible, our admin team submits the claim on your behalf immediately after your session is paid. Provided Medicare has your correct bank details on file, the rebate usually appears in your bank account within 24-48 hours.
Can I claim Private Health and Medicare at the same time?
No, under Australian law, you cannot claim a rebate from both Medicare and your Private Health Fund for the same consultation. If you have both, you can choose which one to use for each appointment (e.g., you might use up your Medicare sessions first, and then switch to Private Health).
What happens when my 20 EDMP sessions run out?
An EDMP allows for 20 dietitian sessions per rolling 12-month period (starting from the date the plan was created). Once you use all 20 sessions, you will need to pay privately or use Private Health insurance until the 12-month anniversary of your plan, at which point your GP can review and issue a new one.
